Ilse Bolster is multilingual in German, English, French and Spanish. Ilse enjoyed opportunities that exposed her to many foreign visitors. She taught German to American officers preparing for in-country occupation during World War II and perfected a “total immersion” technique of language education for immigrants that other teachers applauded and adopted.
